Educational Experts continue their learning journey in Berlin

Learning Journey: This week, 25 German and US senior leaders from universities and ministries are exploring the impact of digitalization on higher education in Berlin. Back in fall, the group already visited the digital hubs of Boston and NYC, including edX, Harvard University Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning, MIT Media Lab, the City University of New York and the New School. To learn more about the US part of the learning journey, please see the highlight video below.

From December 9 to 12, this year’s Educational Experts Seminar continues in Berlin – with even more site visits, discussions, and expert talks. Highlights include World Cafès on "Institutional Strategies & Change Management" and "Research and the Digital Age" at the Freie Universität and the Einstein Center for Digital Future, respectively. An Unconference on the topic "Smart Curriculum and Learning" brings the experts together with students and representatives of start ups, NGOs and other innovative organizations from the educational sphere in Berlin. In addition, the Educational Experts also actively participate in the Conference "Strategies Beyond Borders - Transforming Higher Education in the Digital Age".

The seminar is organized by Fulbright Germany in cooperation with the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft, Hochschulforum Digitalisierung and the German Center for Research and Innovation in New York, and is part of the official “Year of German-American Friendship.”

New “Transatlantic Seminar for Museum Curators and Educators” concludes in Washington, DC

Representing a wide variety of institutions on both sides of the Atlantic, the group shared their expertise in multiple participant-driven panel discussions and peer learning sessions. In addition, expert practitioners and researchers joint the group for presentations and in-depth conversations, including Dr. Zahava Doering (Thinc Design), Prof. Dr. Martin Tröndle (Zeppelin University), and Dr. Margaret C. Conrads (Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art).

Administrators in International Education meet in Berlin

U.S. Administrators in International Education started their 12 day program with a city tour in Berlin. The program will offer an overview of recent developments in higher education in Germany through lectures, workshops and campus visits. It will conclude in Karlsruhe and Strasbourg, where first-hand-information from students and professors of joint French-German degree programs as well as a site visit to the European Parliament in Strasbourg  will foster a deeper understanding of the European dimension in German Higher Education.

Meet-a-German Speakers in 46 States Across the U.S. Spark Students’ Interest in Contemporary German Culture.

On October 3, several thousand students at 135 schools in the U.S. had the chance to “meet a German” and gain unique insight into contemporary Germany as well as its past.

We are proud to announce that, with the help of all our participants, we were able to bring Meet-a-German to a total of 46 states. This is an even greater number than we had anticipated due to the last-minute confirmation of a Meet-a-German event happening at a school in Wyoming.
