We have just welcomed 15 budding American journalists and journalism students to the Berlin Capital Program, our intensive weeklong seminar that offers a snapshot of the German media landscape via first-hand encounters and on-the-ground experiences. We expect the week will provide valuable insights into the future of journalism.
Among the many highlights during the week will be a briefing with a member of the German Bundestag about the U.S. midterm elections' impact on transatlantic relations; an in-depth visit to KCRW, Berlin's English language radio station; pondering the German notion of privacy during a tour of the Stasi archives; an introduction to special projects and new formats being developed at an independent, cooperative-owned daily newspaper; and a panel discussion with journalists on covering German and European news for a foreign audience.
