From September 17 – 19, 2018 Fulbright Germany convened 70 US Fulbright students, doctoral fellows and 5 aspiring US journalists in Marburg (Hesse) to familiarize them with the German way of life, our higher education system, and the important bureaucratic matters to be tackled as their Fulbright year in Germany begins. The Fulbright grantees will pursue individual study and research projects representing a wide variety of disciplines from Agriculture to Dance, from Engineering to Literature, Music and Philosophy.
The Welcome Dinner in the Kurfürstensaal of the Landgrafenschloss, perched up on Marburg's Castle Hill, offered the US Fulbrighters rich networking opportunities and a fantastic panoramic view of the Marburg region. They were given a warm welcome from Professor Dr. Michael Bölker, Marburg University's Vice President for Research, Young Academics and International Affairs and were joined by German alumni of the Fulbright program.
From Marburg, the grantees continued on in all directions to their German host universities, such as Weimar, Gießen, Kiel, and Cottbus. We wish the 2018-19 Fulbright students and journalists a promising start to their grant year and much success for their academic projects.
