From July 26 to August 19, 2019, 40 students from German Fachhochschulen will participate in the Fulbright Summer Institutes at Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University and Washington & Jefferson College.
These two institutes for students from German universities of applied sciences will introduce them to two different fields of study, as well as life on an American campus. The Fulbright Summer Institute at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia is interdisciplinary in nature and focuses on "Communicating Across Disciplines: New Approaches for Applied Sciences," while the institute at Washington & Jefferson College in Washington, Pennsylvania is entitled "The Urban Turnaround: The Transition from Smokestacks to Sustainable Industries," and addresses sustainability across several different fields important to the region. Coursework is complemented by program-related excursions, company/project visits and cultural activities.
