The traditional Thanksgiving event took place at a new Berlin venue, the "Alte Pumpe" near Lützowplatz. About 250 fellows and alumni including about 60 fellows funded by the DAAD and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation witnessed U.S. Ambassador John B. Emerson skillfully carving the first slice of a huge turkey after giving welcome remarks.
