"Sharing the Bounty" at Thanksgiving 2017

Chargé d’Affaires ad interim Kent Logsdon carving the turkey while Dr. Oliver Schmidt provides narration.

The Fulbright Commission hosted this year’s Thanksgiving Feast at the Frannz Club in Berlin on November 20, 2017. It was the 5th year that Fulbright joined with partners, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH), to celebrate the American holiday with many of our American fellows working and studying in Germany.

Almost 300 fellows and alumni, including about 50 fellows funded by the DAAD and the AvH Foundation, witnessed the U.S. Embassy’s Chargé d’Affaires ad interim, Kent Logsdon carve the first slice of turkey after welcoming all guests.

Dr. Katja Hartmann (Head of Berlin office, Alexander von Humboldt Foundation), Ulrich Grothus (Deputy Secretary General, DAAD), Dr. Oliver Schmidt (Executive Director, Fulbright Commission), and Ms. Heidrun Tempel (Director for Education, Science and Academic Relations Policy, Foreign Cultural Relations; Federal Foreign Office) collaboratively expressed gratitude to friends, family, colleagues and alumni, while special guest, David Patrician bid farewell to our longtime Fulbright colleague, Reiner Rohr.

The warm, festive evening filled with music, happy reunions and new encounters was an apt occasion for the Fulbright Commission and its partners to “share the bounty.”
