Exploring Difference: The Third Mission of Universities – Strategy and Practice for the Collaboration with Business and Society

The series INTERNATIONAL DIALOGUE ON EDUCATION BERLIN is a joint initiative of the British Council, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the German-American Fulbright Commission, the Embassy of Canada in Germany and Freie Universität Berlin. Through the contributions of international participants the series aims to enrich the debate on science, research and higher education policy in Germany, to place German perspectives in a global context and to learn from positive examples from other
Fulbright-Alumna Carolyn Campbell-Golden from Auburn University at Montgomery (see press release) will represent the U.S. approach on the international ID-E panel and offer her insight into the topic. She has worked in higher education for over 25 years and currently serves as Vice Chancellor for Advancement at Auburn University at Montgomery in the United States and participated in the 2016 Fulbright Seminar for U.S. Administrators in International Education.
The aim of the 14th conference in the ID-E Berlin series is to explore the concept of the third mission of universities and enrich the debate in Germany with insights from an international perspective. Together with experts from the US, the UK, Germany and the
Netherlands we will discuss how higher education institutions can be successful on their way to increasing transfer and partnership cooperation with stakeholders from business and society. The event will be preceded on 26 June by the conference „Auf dem
Weg zur Kooperativen Hochschule” (in German) with a focus on the German perspective organised by the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft.
The working language will be English.
