Support for Fulbright on the Hill

Advocacy Days on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C.

Advocacy Day (March 14 and 15, 2017) is an opportunity for Fulbright alumni and supporters to increase the visibility for the Fulbright exchange and educate U.S. Congressional officials on how vital this program is.

Executive Director, Dr. Oliver Schmidt, and his colleagues - Executive Directors of the binational Fulbright Commissions from Austria, Canada, Hungary, Mexico, Pakistan, and the United Kingdom - came together in Washington, D.C. for a joint effort to lobby for the Fulbright program on the Hill.

The Fulbright Program has produced 130,000 American alumni and 240,000 international alumni - leaders in every field, in 165 countries, including 57 Nobel Laureates.

The Hungarian Ambassador Dr. Reka Szemerkenyi - a Fulbright alumna – hosted a reception for Fulbright leaders and alumni on March 14, 2017, to foster the Capitol Hill Advocacy Day which is organized by the Fulbright Association.
Today Oliver Schmidt and his colleagues meet with members of the U.S. Congress to educate them about the Fulbright Program and ask for their continued support of the Program.
