Your Fulbright experience extends far beyond your participation in the program. You become part of a worldwide community of scholars that will continuously support, challenge and inspire you throughout your lifetime. The German Fulbright Alumni Association (Fulbright Alumni e.V.) works to bring together Fulbrighters in Germany in order to further strengthen this community and enhance the Fulbright experience. For over 30 years the association has grown and developed into the strong community it is today. Our overriding mission to strengthen and support cross-cultural exchange between Fulbrighters and encourage dialogue on important topics is reflected in our diverse offerings, members, and partners.
We have overcome many challenges, over the years, but none like the current pandemic. Despite these challenges we are still fostering an active community with engaging events and new initiatives. Our regional groups have always been at the heart of our concept and they have thrived during this past year. Holiday events like Thanksgiving and regular Stammtische continued and will continue to bring the Fulbright community home to you. These regional groups and the Fulbright network also help you connect with local offerings ranging from exclusive partner events, internships and jobs, and opportunities to represent Fulbright at orientations and schools. Don’t see a regional group in your area? Then you can still be involved or start one yourself! We have members all over Germany. Whether you want to start a regional group, try out a new event idea, or gather support for your own endeavors, this community fosters and relies on member initiative.
The Alumni Association also offers additional opportunities to travel, network, and learn through our national and international events. Alumni and even current American and German grantees in Germany are invited to participate in yearly events like our Winterball, Welcome Meeting, sailing trip, family weekend, and more thematic events across Germany. Through these events, you can reconnect with your Fulbright friends and make new connections across generations, nationalities, and areas of interest. Association members can also attend international conferences and continue to play a role in transatlantic affairs.
Regardless of what program, when you participated, or where you went, all Fulbrighters are welcome in the German Fulbright Alumni Association. We look forward to connecting with you and hope that you will join this great Fulbright community.
