Assistant Secretary of State Wess Mitchell meets Fulbrighters

On November 10, 2017 U.S. Assistant Secretary of State A. Wess Mitchell met with Fulbrighters of the Diversity Summer Institutes at the Fulbright office in Berlin to discuss current transatlantic relations, the impact of exchange programs and the personal experiences of Fulbright alumni.  Dr. Mitchell was an exchange student himself – he holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the Otto Suhr Institut für Politikwissenschaft at Freie Universität in Berlin. He stressed the importance of international exchange alumni as ambassadors between countries and cultures worldwide and thanked all participants for their continued commitment.

Dr. A. Wess Mitchell took the oath of office as U.S. Assistant Secretary of State on October 12, 2017. As Assistant Secretary he is responsible for diplomatic relations with 50 countries in Europe and Eurasia, and with NATO, the EU and the OSCE.
