We have set up an eGroup under the name "Fulbright Teaching Assistants" through the Internet service eGroups.com.
What are eGroups? By becoming part of an eGroup, you are basically signing up to a listserve. E-mails can be sent by you to the group (in the case of the Fulbright Teaching Assistants eGroup, to other TA's) and you receive the mails directed to the group. You can have the emails directed either to your personal e-mail account, or you can view the posting on the Web at www.egroups.com.
To access the group, you simply need to subscribe. This service is free, and you can un-subscribe at any time. eGroups.com is a commercial service, advertising is to be expected, but should be fairly innocuous. You might want to set up a separate Internet e-mail account (through www.yahoo.de or www.hotmail.com, for example) and register for the eGroup using that account. Regarding personal privacy, you really need do nothing more than provide your e-mail address to join the group. Please refer to the eGroups Web page and inform yourself.
