U.S. Administrators in International Education

ELIGIBILITY

Full-time administrators affiliated with a four- or two-year college, university, or non-profit international educational exchange organizations. Applicants should have significant involvement in at least one of the following areas:

  • Student or faculty exchanges, foreign student admissions/advising, study-abroad programs, and international educational exchange services. Administrators who have substantial responsibility for enhancing the international dimension of their institutions and for international program development are also encouraged to apply.
  • Career service professionals.
  • Alumni affairs.
  • Fundraising.

Preference is given to applicants with at least 3 years of administrative experience and supervisory responsibility who have been at their current institutions for at least one year and who have not had extended visits to Germany in the past 10 years. The seminar is conducted in English.

DESCRIPTION

This two-week group seminar takes place in the fall and focuses on German higher education for American university, college, and community college administrators. The program includes briefings, campus visits and cultural events in Berlin and other cities in Germany. The program consists of two parts: A general introduction to Germany and its system of higher education and a program portion in which participants split up in small subgroups enabling them to focus on their individual professional interests as they relate to the seminar. The 2007 program is scheduled for October 27 through November 10, 2007.

NUMBER OF GRANTS

Approximately 25 grants are available.

GRANT BENEFITS

Grants covering program costs, travel, accommodation, and a partial per diem.
