German Programs: Getting Prepared for the U.S.
More than 200 German students who will participate in the 2010-2011 programs for full, partial and travel-only scholarships came together in March to attend a 3-day seminar in Berlin to prepare them for life and study in the U.S. The meeting coincided with the Fulbright Commission´s annual Berlin Seminar that traditionally gathers about 300 American Fulbright students and scholars pursuing their academic projects in Germany and neighboring European host countries. Teacher Spring Seminar
21 German teachers from various fields, school types and German states left for State College, PA on March 20, where the Pennsylvania State University organized for the third time a two-week intensive professional development seminar on behalf of the Fulbright Commission. Read more...

A new Educational Experts Seminar took place May 3-7, 2010 in New Orleans and examined the "Institutional Diversity in the U.S. Higher Education System". Read more...

German Studies Seminar
The 2010 German Studies Seminar invites 13 U.S. scholars to come to Germany to examine "Germany´s Sozialstaat Revisited: A System in Turmoil". The 10-day program takes place June 9- 18, 2010 in Berlin, Schwerin and Hamburg. Read more...

Diversity Initiative
The Commission launches a new program for young students with immigrant background in Germany and in the USA, in addtion to the existing Diversity Programs. Read more...

Baden-Württemberg Seminar for American Faculty in German and German Studies
The University of Tübingen organizes a special professional development seminar for younger American faculty in the field of German and Cultural Studies from June 22 - Juliy 3, 2010. The idea is to strengthen existing networks in German Studies and to encourage these young faculty members to support and advocate student exchanges by giving them a current realistic image of Germany, facilitate sophisticated German Language and Cultural Studies, and offer cultural enrichment in and around Tübingen.

Freie Universität Berlin - Fulbright American Studies Seminar
The Freie Universität also seeks the cooperation and funding of the Fulbright Commisssion for up to 10 participants in a new American Studies course for university students in Germany in relevant fields. Instead of sending these students to the USA, the Freie Universität is hosting a subject oriented, inter-disciplinary intensive four week course this summer. Read more...
