The ten participants represented German Universitäten and Fachhochschulen and were introduced to a broad scope of themes, including: Enrollment Management, University Planning, Communications and Image Development, Alumni Relations, Annual Giving and Campaigns, Stewardship and Donor Relations, Advancement Services, Economic Development Programs, Employer Relations. The program consisted of expert presentations, discussions, university visits in the Stony Brook region and in New York, and experiential segments which afforded the German visitors the opportunity to observe their American colleagues “in professional action”. The German administrators were impressed by the rich and varied seminar set up by Stony Brook University. They returned home with much food for thought, lots of new ideas and a strong enthusiasm for the skills and capacities developed at U.S. universities.
