German Programs: Getting Prepared for the U.S.
More than 200 German students who will participate in the 2009-2010 programs for full, partial and travel-only scholarships came together in March to attend a 3-day seminar in Berlin to prepare them for life and study in the U.S. The meeting coincided with the Fulbright Commission´s Annual Berlin Seminar that traditionally gathers about 300 American Fulbright students and scholars pursuing their academic projects in Germany and neighbouring European host countries. The 2009 Fulbright Berlin Seminar was dedicated to the theme “1989-2009: New Hopes – New Challenges” and took place March 14-18, 2009. Read more...
Teacher Spring Seminars
The second Teacher Spring Seminar for 23 German teachers took place from March 28 to April 18, 2009. The first two weeks were spent at the Pennsylvania State University. Through seminars, lectures and discussions on the university level and during a number of high school visits, the participants learned about existing structures and challenges, ongoing developments and pending reforms of the American high school system and of American society. Educational Experts Seminar - Fachhochschulen
The Fulbright program year 2008-2009 again features two Educational Experts seminars for German university leaders and other higher education specialists. One of the seminars, targeted exclusively at educational experts at Fachhochschulen, took place May 3-8, 2009 and examined the role and function of “Continuing and Adult Education at U.S. Universities”.

Fulbright-Hertie Summer Academy 2009 – A New Diversity Program
The new special program "Fulbright-Hertie Summer Academy 2009" aims to give American minority students an attractive picture of contemporary Germany, its culture, language, and society. This experience shall serve as a basis for a long-term acquaintance with Europe and openness for transatlantic cooperation in the future. From May 31 to July 1, 2009 a group of 20 American minority students from the University of Kentucky takes part in the Fulbright-Hertie Summer Academy in Potsdam and Berlin. Read more...
German Studies Seminar
The 2009 German Studies Seminar invites 15 U.S. scholars to come to Germany to examine “Germany´s Future – New Parties, New solutions”. The 2-week program takes place June 7- 19, 2009 in Berlin, Erfurt, Frankfurt and Wiesbaden. Read more...

German Student Services Administrators
This year will see the premiere of the Fulbright Seminar for German Student Services Administrators, a U.S. based one-week program taking place September 21-26, 2009 in cooperation with the State University of New York in Stony Brook who will also host the German participants. Read more...
Educational Experts Seminar
The second Educational Experts seminar will take place September 28 – October 2, 2009 and address “University Outreach in the U.S.” The seminar will be conducted in cooperation with the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft for experts representing the leadership levels of German universities and other higher education organizations.
