The participants were introduced to the concept of the American graduate school and learned about its decision-making and management processes. During their university visits the German experts studied graduate student recruitment and admissions, the planning goals of graduate education and its relationship with the job market. They took a close look at institutional and departmental accreditation policies, and the relevance of international students and partnerships for the continued success of U.S. graduate schools.
